FLANGER is ATOM (aka SEOR COCONUT) and BURNT FRIEDMAN. On this, their fourth full length album, they have collaborated with Sydney born RICHARD PIKE aka RIFF JACKSON III of PIVOT fame (and standin for EWAN MCGREGOR in STAR WARS) and his brother, drummer extraordinaire LAURENCE PIKE aka MF SHAKESPEARE of TRIOSK. > The new album \'Spirituals\' is three years in the making, the first release after \'Inner Space/Outer Space\' in 2002 on NINJA TUNE. Their tracks over the previous releases have licensed to many jazz / breaks related compilations. > This new Flanger album is all about reimagining a period when music was still playful. Back then, people would come to call their songs Spirituals, for the inspiration to sing and play them came from above and would leave them in high spirits. All the more reason to sing and play. > It\'s this spirit that Atom and his longtime Flanger comrade, Burnt Friedman, are trying to catch. Here they explore and relive the emotional sides of this jazzbeforejazz, its moods and sentiments.
